Aparna K. BAMS, MD, PhD
CONSULTANT ADVISOR FOR DEVELOPMENT OF ONEWORLD AYURVEDA AND VISITING PHYSICIAN
Aparna is one of the few specialists in the world with a PhD in Ayurveda.
Born into an Ayurvedic family who operates a traditional Ayurvedic Panchakarma hospital in Kerala, India, she grew up observing her father, Dr. Padmanabhan (awarded the best physician by Ayurveda Medical Association of India), treating hundreds of patients successfully over his 35 year career.
Aparna graduated with a PhD in Ayurveda at Indian’s most prestigious Institute for Ayurveda and was presented ‘Jivaka Award’ for her outstanding performance in academics. She has presented on Ayurveda at many national and international seminars with her research published in several papers and journals.
Her fields of interest include mind-body medicine, yoga and Vedic medical astrology. She is dedicated to spreading the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to the world. Aparna now resides in Bali with her husband, Abhishek Joshi, BAMS, MD, PhD, also an expert of Ayurveda and the chair of Ayurveda at the Universitas Hindu Indonesia in Denpasar, Bali.

Ninnu Sudarshan, BAMS
RESIDENT AYURVEDIC PHYSICIAN
Ninnu Sudarshan received his degree B.A.M.S. of Ayurveda from the renowned Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda Medical College in Kerala, India, the cradle of Ayurveda. He had great opportunity to interact with many eminent physicians practicing authentic Ayurveda during his studies.
Ninnu was the Ayurvedic consultant in the Kottakal Ayurveda clinic in Kollam and after that, he had the great opportunity to work in the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy in Coimbatore, which is a real melting pot of mentors of Ayurveda. Here he perfected his Ayurvedic diagnostic methods, like for example the Nadi pareeksha.
He built up his own Panchakarma center in Kollam, as well as a pharmacy producing genuine Ayurvedic medicines, which many hospitals around Kerala today use. He has practiced all the Panchakarma therapies and also para surgical methods like the venesection and leech therapy. His passion for the science of Ayurveda and his great desire to help the sick encouraged him to study and practice the Varma techniques that have instant impact in human body by stimulating the vital nerve points and the plexus.
Ninnu is highly interested in spirituality and has good knowledge of Yogasastra. His treatment plans use yoga, meditation, pranayama and life style recommendations in addition to the Ayurvedic treatments and are, therefore, attractive to the patients as they attain both physiological and psychological wellbeing.
RETREAT SUPERVISOR/YOGA TEACHER
Wayan Tekok has been working within the ONEWORLD family since 2006, first in the yoga retreat center Kumara Sakti in Ubud, where he worked his way from housekeeping to reception, later to become assistant retreat leader.
A remarkable team player, hard worker and ready to try new things, Tekok – as he likes to be called – did not hesitate to embrace the new challenge as supervisor of the Ayurveda retreat. He is eager to meet people from all over the world, welcoming them with his warm smile, to lead them to yoga and introduce them to the beautiful culture of Bali.
Tekok comes from Gianyar, some 20 minutes from here. As a father of two boys, family is very important to him. As a Balinese he believes in Karma Pala, which means producing good results from a positive action.
Santi Sashmitha Devi
Santi is a native Balinese Hindu raised in a village near Ubud. Besides having studied crystal healing and massage therapy, Santi has a passion for Ayurveda. She enrolled herself as a Student at Faculty of Health (Ayurveda), Universitas Hindu Indonesia, Bali and is very dedicated to health and Ayurveda.
Her energy, enthusiasm and dedication towards the ancient science of Ayurveda is a perfect match to the in-house physician.
I Putu Nugraha Putra
HERBALIST AND MEDITATION INSTRUCTOR
Putu is a native of Jembrana, Bali and holds a bachelor degree in nursing. He is fond of nature and the holistic way of life which inspired him to learn yoga and completed a yoga teacher training program from the Art of Living Foundation.
Besides being ONEWORLD Ayurveda’s permanent meditation teacher, Putu enjoys teaching Balinese to lead a stress-free life. He is knowledgable in permaculture and organic farming. With the guidance of the ONEWORLD Ayurveda’s physicians, he has developed the retreat’s organic herbal garden.
TREATMENT CENTRE SUPERVISOR
Ari grew up and went to school in Singaraja in North Bali and completed her spa therapist training in Nusa Dua. She gained her vast experience in spa treatments in different spas in Ubud and also worked in Turkey.
Ari has been with the ONEWORLD family since 2013 and was happy to move to the Ayurveda resort as treatment centre supervisor. Having experienced the healing effects of Ayurveda, she is very happy to share her knowledge with her team. She is a mother of one son and loves to spend her free time with her family and also enjoys doing yoga.
