There are four things that are very important in an authentic Panchakarma according to Ayurveda.

  1. The Doctor
You need a very skilled doctor who can assess your imbalances, the extent of toxins, and the status of your digestive fire and decide what is the best Panchakarma amongst the five powerful cleanses needed—each Panchakarma is customized to the individual.
  2. The Medicine
It is very important to have potent and pure medicines of the highest quality for the treatment of existing conditions and to assist you through your detox.
  3. The Therapists
Qualified and well-trained therapists in Ayurvedic massage and treatment techniques are integral to an authentic Panchakarma.
  4. The Patient
The patient themselves needs to have the willingness to undergo the Panchakarma and is committed to focusing on the healing process they are going through.

Are there any Do’s & Don’ts when it comes to authentic Panchakarma?

Do’s

Do gentle yoga, meditation, and take slow walks through the rice fields—the calmer and quieter you keep yourself during your Panchakarma the better the results will be.

Do eat the food that has been specially customized according to your Dosha imbalances and condition—food really is medicine during your Panchakarma.

Don’ts

Don’t over-exert yourself with high-impact exercise or cause shock to your body while you are going through your Panchakarma. Most of the treatments are heating in nature and aim to open your pores and prepare your circulatory system for detox, so jumping into a cold pool or experiencing any physical shock can counter the treatments you have been given.
